|
Year: 1949 Rated: NR Parental Rating: Acceptable for children Country Of Origin: U.S. Running Time: 82 Format: Color Genre(s): Comedy; Musical Production: Universal Released By: Universal O'Connor and DeHaven are husband and wife in this postwar musical about veterans who return to campus life in order to finish their college education. DeHaven and the other wives are subject to the speeches given by professor Brown, who thinks the husbands should stay at home instead of starting up a football team. Coburn, a biology professor, is determined to hit the gridiron, however. When Coburn's job is jeopardized, the husbands and wives see eye to eye, as do Brown and Coburn, who, it turns out, had a relationship years before. The songs penned by Jack Brooks and Walter Scharf include: "Men Are Little Children" (sung by DeHaven), "They've Never Figured Out a Woman" (O'Connor), and "All Look at Me" (DeHaven, O'Connor). The memorable title tune written by Gus Kahn and Walter Donaldson and sung here by DeHaven and O'Connor, played a big part in A THOUSAND CLOWNS, 16 years later. |
